Truck Drivers
As a truck driver, your day-to-day grind can consist of long work hours, an erratic sleep schedule, and the discovery of new or strange places. While pursuing the open road can feel quite exhilarating, there’s the possibility of creating unhealthy habits along the way. To stop those patterns in their tracks, HealingRadius has come up with four tips to improve your health on your trips!
- Park at a scenic route and walk around for five to 10 minutes at lunchtime.
- Pack homemade, healthy food options for your truck rides rather than stopping at fast-food restaurants. When you’re hungry, munch on snacks like fruit, low-calorie nuts or sandwiches—either from home, a health-conscious grocery store, or a farm stand for fresh products.
- Consume as much water as you can if you want to be a healthy trucker. Staying hydrated is very important, and water is the best way to hydrate and cleanse your body.
- Get plenty of rest to rejuvenate your mind and body. When you’re on the road for hours and hours at a time, make sure to schedule enough rest so that you can be refreshed and maintain a healthy immune system.
Pilots and Flight Attendants
Cruising at an altitude of 37,000 feet might scare some people, but not you. Your profession requires you to be walking among the clouds for multiple hours a day. When you reach your destination, you are often times stuck waiting for your next assignment flight in an airport or shuttled to a neighboring hotel in a strange city. During your busy time traveling, when do you have a spare moment to plan a healthy diet and exercise? Well, not to worry. HealingRadius is here to provide you with the useful tools to manage all your health and wellness needs while on the go. Try these moves next time you are on an airplane for a long flight:
- Seated spinal twist - At the edge of your seat, draw you left knee over your right knee by crossing your legs. Place your right hand on your left knee. Slowly turn yourself to the left side as you exhale (your head should be at your right shoulder). Breathe deeply five times and repeat on other side.
- Leg and hip movement - Begin with your legs in front of you. Keep your right foot firmly on the floor and bend your left knee, bringing your thigh toward your chest. Make sure your spine is in an upright position and your chin is tucked into your chest. Hold and breathe for 10 seconds and repeat on other side.

Business Professionals
HealingRadius understands that long airport layovers, stressful meetings and lengthy agendas can take a toll on our bodies, mentally and physically, which is why we want to help. Staying fit on the go will not only maintain your health and well-being but can also improve your business performance. With that said, let’s look at some ways to stay healthy on those tiring work trips.
- Set boundaries - When you dine out, the temptation to try the tastiest (and sometimes heaviest) meals on the menu seems inevitable, but luckily, there are ways to satisfy your taste buds without going overboard on the calories. For example, limit fried food and stick to diet-friendly cocktails.
- Pack snacks - While you’re on the go, packing wholesome snacks and sandwiches will help you curb hunger pangs while enabling you to stay in control of what you eat. Great snacks for your trip include fresh fruit, veggie slices, whole-grain crackers, part-skim string cheese sticks, and low-calorie and heart-healthy nuts.
- Keep it moving - Taking the time to exercise should be a priority, even on the go. Keep in mind, though, that it shouldn’t feel like work (since you are already traveling for work.) For example, if you arrive early to the airport with much time to spare, or if you’re feeling antsy during a long layover, you can walk up and down your terminal. In addition, hotel rooms are perfect for light aerobics like jumping jacks, or other exercises like push-ups, squats and lunges.
- Entertain yourself - We eat when we’re bored. It happens. It’s actually suggested that listening to a favorite band or treating yourself to a new audiobook could decrease your need to look for dopamine fixes in food. Other ways to entertain yourself in the midst of traveling are with a book, laptop, magazine, crossword puzzle or an iPod loaded with music.
Sport Teams
As an athlete, your first priority should be to maintain your health and reduce your chance of injury. To do so, your daily focus is on conditioning and muscle training, helping you compete at peak performance. Your job calls for you to travel around the country and visit many different arenas and sports complexes, meaning you are entitled to spend a majority of your time on a plane or a charter bus traveling to various cities. During team practices and competitions, when do you have time for your own wellness related hobbies? Don’t worry—HealingRadius can provide you with the useful tools to let you explore your own health and wellness hobbies while on the go. Try these meditation techniques next time you are on the road:
- Passenger Meditation - Most likely when you travel, you will be the passenger in the vehicle. Spend this time quieting your mind by turning off any distractions. Try concentrating on the sound of the vehicle and the rhythm it keeps or count the number of cars that pass by.
- Listening Meditation - Usually when traveling, there are a lot of unfamiliar sounds that surround you. Concentrate on these sounds, and tune every other distraction out. This can also be done with peaceful music.
